SAPULPA IN AREA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

What you need to know about Friday's basketball game Posted on 02/28/2019 (SPS) - Highway 97 Rivalry, Part Three. For the third time this season, our Chieftains will take on the Sandites on the hardwood, but this matchup has much more meaning than the previous two. The winner of the game on March 1 advances to State, while the loser will play on Saturday. Here’s what you need to know about Friday night’s game: WHERE IS THE GAME? We’ve been assigned to play at Claremore High School. The address is 201 E. Stuart Roosa. According to Google Maps, it’s 42 miles from our high school to CHS and the drive will take you approximately 48 minutes, depending on traffic. WHEN IS THE GAME? Friday, March 1st at 6:30 p.m. WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE? The doors open at 5:30 p.m. We are playing in the first of the two games at the Claremore gym but seating in the designated fan sections for the home team and visiting team is first come, first served. WHERE SHOULD I SIT? Fans of the visiting team (Sapulpa) will be seated behind the scorers’ table. The Chieftains Student Section will sit in the area that is marked Visiting Student Section. We encourage all Sapulpa fans to sit in our designated section. If you're unsure about where to sit once you arrive, school administration will be there to help you find our sections. Fans of the home team (Sand Springs) will be seated across from the scorers' table and the student section is marked CHS Student Section. Again, the seating for these sections is first come, first served so depending on how close you want to be to the court, you may want to arrive early. There is another game that tips off at 8 p.m. so fans will be coming in near the end of our game. CAN I BRING A SIGN TO HANG OR HOLD UP? No. OSSAA does not allow for signs to be brought into the arenas. In fact, no items that may be a distraction to players or fans will be allowed. Those things not allowed include noisemakers, confetti, banners, emblems, placards, signs, thundersticks, balloons, and laser lights. WILL OUR BAND BE THERE? No. Like Regionals, OSSAA does not allow for school bands to be in the arena during Area contests. WHAT IS THE SEATING CAPACITY OF THE CLAREMORE GYM? 2,200 HOW MUCH IS GATE ADMISSION? $5 WILL MY STUDENT PASS, TEACHER PASS, OR SEASON TICKETS GET ME INTO THE GAME? No. The only pass that will be accepted is one from OSSAA. WHEN DO WE PLAY AGAIN? The winner moves on to the State Tournament March 7-9. The loser will play in Skiatook on Saturday, March 2 against the winner of the Putnam City North/Union game for the chance to extend its season.
